Mrs. Gail Raughton Moore, age 79, of Valley, Alabama passed away on Saturday, January 28, 2023 at the East Alabama Medical Center in Opelika.
Mrs. Moore was born in West Point, Georgia on July 1, 1943 to the late Grady Dewey Raughton and Maybell McCollum Raughton. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 29 years, Lynwood Moore, a sister, LaVelle Birmingham, and a niece, Janet Birmingham Firth.
Gail was a secretary within the West Point Stevens Transportation Division. After her retirement from West Point Stevens, she accepted a job with the Chambers County School System as a bus driver. She retired from the school system after 20 years of service.
Gail’s interests and hobbies included crocheting, working outside in her yard, and attending water aerobics at the Sportsplex. She also enjoyed watching NASCAR.
Gail was a woman of faith and she loved her church and her church family at Victory Baptist Church.
She is survived by her children, Rob Hilderbrand, Russ Hilderbrand (Carole), Jimmy Moore (Stacy), Leigh Harry (Chris); sister, Dale Raughton Burton (Wilson); grandchildren, Nick Hilderbrand (Kammy), Zach Hilderbrand, Hunter Hilderbrand, Trevor Harry, Ashley Moore, Tashina Coleman; several great-grandchildren; niece, Carol Birmingham Reiley (Dennis); nephew, Tom Birmingham; numerous extend family members and friends.
Graveside services will be held on Friday, February 3, 2023 at 11:00A.M. EST at the Langdale Cemetery. The Reverend Larry Vinson officiating. The Moore family will be visiting with family and friends Thursday evening from 6:00P.M. EST until 8:00P.M. EST at the Johnson Brown-Service Funeral Home in Valley.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made in Gail’s memory to Victory Baptist Church, 3945 54th Avenue Southwest, Lanett, Alabama 36863.
