Michael Anthony "Mike" Yates Obituary

     Mr. Michael Anthony “Mike” Yates, age 64, of Duluth, Georgia passed away on Tuesday, September 14th, 2021 at his residence. He was born on April 18th, 1957 in Valley, Alabama to the late Julian Knight Yates and Mary Francis Yates.

     Mike is survived by his sister, Patsy Yates Estes; brother, Jackie Knight Yates; nieces and nephew, Mandy (Scott) Meadows, Ashley (Andy) Jackson, Cristen Estes, Leslie Walden, and T. J. Yates; great nieces and nephews, Trent (Hallie) Whaley, Coleman Whaley, Katie Whaley, Gavin Walden, Ky Yates, Brayden Crowe, Ansley Jackson, and Anna Charles Jackson; great-great nephew and niece, Knox and Charleigh Whaley.

     Mike was a dedicated employee of Camden Sinclair Properties in Atlanta, Georgia where he was a maintenance supervisor for over 20 years. He enjoyed spending his free time at the family lake house on Lake Harding. He loved fishing, skiing, and laughing with friends and family. He was a brother, a son, and to most “Uncle Mike” or “Mike Yates”. Mike was a United States Marine, serving from 1975 until 1978. He always had a kind heart and always helped others. Mike had many sayings, one of his favorites was “Adapt, overcome, and endure”.

     A memorial service will be held on Sunday, September 19th, 2021 at 3:00 PM (EDT) At the Johnson Brown-Service Funeral Home Chapel in Valley. The Reverend Nannette Brooks will officiate. The family will receive friends Sunday afternoon from 2:00 PM (EDT) until the service hour at the funeral home.

     Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, www.woundedwarriorproject.org, in his memory.
