Mr. James Donald “Don” Roberts, age 86, of Valley, Alabama passed away on Wednesday, April 14th, 2021 at Bethany House in Auburn, Alabama. He was born on October 2nd, 1934 in the Eagle Creek Community of Tallapoosa County, Alabama.
Mr. Roberts was preceded in death by his parents, James Dovard Roberts and Travis Mae Worthy Roberts; and brother, Charles Lamar Roberts.
He is survived by his special cousins, Margie Adams of Milltown, Alabama and Sonja Strickland of Montgomery, Alabama; special friend, Carolyn Cornett of Montgomery; niece, Jennifer Moore of Oden, Arkansas; and many other cousins.
Mr. Roberts was a member of St. John’s Episcopal Church in West Point, Georgia. He graduated Valley High School in 1953 and went on to graduate from Perry Business School and Auburn University. He was a veteran, serving in the U.S. Army. He was a former employee of West Point Manufacturing Company, Collier Construction Company, U.S. Postal Service, and the State of Alabama. He enjoyed traveling and following Auburn baseball and football and the Cleveland Indians.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, April 19th, 2021 at 3:00 PM (EST) at the graveside in Johnson Memorial Gardens. Pastor Chuck Goodwin will officiate. The family will receive friends Monday afternoon from 2:00 PM (EST) until the service hour at the Johnson Brown-Service Funeral Home in Valley.
