Clara Mae Hall Mezick Obituary

Clara Mae Hall Mezick was born in Alexander City, AL, on April 3, 1941, to the late John Wesley and Jimmie Sue Ware Hall. She passed away on Tuesday, March 28, 2023, following a lengthy illness.

In addition to her parents and an infant brother, Mrs. Mezick was preceded in death by her husbands, James R. Mezick, Sr. and Greg Kelley; sister and special brother-in-law, Elizabeth and Bill Lowery; and brothers, James Tyrie Bires and John Douglas Hall.

She is survived by her sons, James R. (JoAnna) Mezick, Jr., Darryl L. Mezick, Valley; her daughter, Debra M. (Keith) Carnley, Chattanooga, TN; grandchildren, Kelly Mezick; Jessica (Trey) Rogers; Logan Mezick; Kyle Mezick (Tori), all of Valley; Elijah (Jeana) Carnley, Ringgold, GA; Wesley (Abby) Carnley, Snead, AL; and Derrick (Lindsay) Shaughnessy-Roberts, Waverly Hall, GA; great-grandchildren, Robert Mason and Henry Trace Rogers, both of Valley; Samuel David and Molly Ruth Carnley, Ringgold, GA, and Thompson James Carnley, Snead, AL, and another on the way; brothers, Glenn Hall, Kellyton, AL; and Farron (Regina) Hall, Sylacauga, AL, as well as numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Mrs. Mezick worked for 13 years with West Point Manufacturing Company at Langdale Mill, Lanett Geriatric Center as a Nursing Assistant for 5 years, and George H. Lanier Memorial Hospital and Nursing Home as a unit secretary and Nursing Assistant for 18 years.

Mrs. Mezick was a faithful member of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Valley, where she gave tirelessly of her time and effort to the Hospitality, Visitation, Choir, and Ladies’ Ministries before her health declined. She especially loved her 16-18 year ministry with the Chattahoochee Valley Baptist Tent Meeting. She was a graduate of Faith Bible Institute.

She loved her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren more than they will ever know. She also loved her church family, as well.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 30, 2023, from noon until the service time, 2:00 p.m., at Emmanuel Baptist Church, 2615 64th Boulevard, Valley, AL, with Dr. Darren White officiating. Interment will be at Fairfax Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be grandsons Kyle Mezick, Logan Mezick, Eli Carnley, Wesley Carnley, Trey Rogers, and nephew Jody Lowery.
