Roland Lee "Ronnie" Ridenour Obituary

Roland “Ronnie” Lee Ridenour, 69, a long-time resident of LaGrange, GA and Valley, AL passed away Saturday, January 11 along with his close friend Donald Wayne Grantham .  Ronnie was born in West Sanford, NC on October 18, 1950 to the late Ellis Roland Ridenour and Mary Margaret Gertrude Flanders.

Ronnie is survived by his longtime loving partner Carole Sandefur; his daughters Cynthia Fenn & Sam, Nicole Fetner & Brad,  his son Chris Ridenour & Ana, his daughters Kelly Sims & Brian, Jeana Pucket and Lisa Cherlin. His sisters Grace Oliver and Francis Easterling and brother-in-law Roger Easterling. He is also survived by his grandchildren Ashley, Rachel, Eric, Dustin, Logan, Brantley, Jordan, Anaya, Jayden, Jackson, Michael, Tyler, Dylan, Jamie, Parker and Jared; Great grandchildren, James, Logan, Novella, Gage, Hunter, Dallas and Aubrey and his niece Benita and nephew Mark.

He was preceded in death by his sister Shirley Hamil Cairnes and brother Keil “Sonny” Hamil, Jr.

Ronnie was a member of Calvary Family Worship Center.  He was an avid golfer, a master builder, and a dedicated patriot proudly serving in the United States Navy. Ronnie was a prolific gardener and lover of all animals and would quite literally take a fly outside rather than kill it.  He held a lifetime love for music and had a band – Ronnie and the Southern Vibrations for over 20 years.  He was a teller of great (and sometimes corny) jokes and stories and possessed a never-ending thirst for knowledge continuously looking for answers to all of life’s mysteries.

Ronnie will be lovingly remembered by his family, loved ones and many friends and neighbors for his humor and his joy for life.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, January 19, 2020 at Johnson-Brown Funeral Home, 3700 20th Ave., Valley, AL at 3:00 p.m. EST with interment following at Hillcrest Garden Cemetery in Lanett AL.  His family will be receiving friends at the funeral home on Sunday from 2:00 p.m EST until the service hour.
