Mrs. Louezzie "Lou" Bailey Obituary

Mrs. Louezzie “Lou” Taunton Bailey, age 97, of Northport, formerly of Valley, Alabama passed peacefully to her heavenly home on Sunday, April 14th, 2019.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Henry T. Bailey; parents, Sarah T. Taunton, and Henry P. Taunton; eleven siblings.

Lou was a member of Valley Baptist Church and was the oldest living member. Before moving to Northport, she was a faithful member and loved her church family dearly. She was also a member of the Agape Sunday School Class of First Baptist Church of Tuscaloosa.

She was known by her family and many friends in the Valley for growing beautiful vegetables and flowers every spring and summer.  It gave her much joy to share these with others.  You could not visit her home and come away empty-handed.  It might be a jar of beautiful beans from her garden, which she prepared and canned, some ripe tomatoes, fresh okra, or a cutting from her flowers.

Mrs. Bailey was retired from the Retail Cloth Department of West Point Pepperell’s Finishing Plant in Valley on April 30th, 1987, after more than 29 years of service with the company.

She is survived by a daughter, Shirley Bailey (Jerry) Blanton, Northport, AL.; grandchildren, Jeff (Kim) Blanton, Talladega, Janet (Ronnie) Beasley, Northport, AL.; five great-grandchildren, Will Cartwright, Austin Blanton, Bailey Blanton, Jon Joseph Beasley, Clare Beasley; numerous nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on Tuesday, April 16th, 2019 at 3:00P.M. EDT at the Johnson Brown-Service Funeral Home chapel in Valley with interment following in Resthaven Cemetery. The Reverend John Gates and the Reverend Nathan Lawrence officiating.  Her family will be receiving friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 2:00P.M. EDT until the service hour.

Pallbearers will be Jeff Blanton, Austin Blanton, Ronnie Beasley, Jon Joseph Beasley, Alford Estes.

Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to the Valley Baptist Church Building Fund in Mrs. Bailey’s memory.
