Mr. James "Sonny" Fitzpatrick Obituary

Mr. James “Sonny” Fitzpatrick, age 66, of West Point, Georgia passed away on Sunday, June 10th, 2018 at the West Georgia Medical Center in LaGrange, Georgia.

Mr. Fitzpatrick was born in Greensboro, Georgia on December 10th, 1951 to the late Hattie Christopher Mize and Robert Mize.

He was a member of the Calvary Family Worship Center for 31 years.

Mr. Fitzpatrick loved his job at Columbus State University.  He loved his family, his church family, and being around children.

You could often find Sonny collecting antiques and he always had a Smarties Candy Roll for the children or whoever wanted one.  One of his greatest honors and enjoyments each year was being asked by Santa Claus to be one of his special helpers for all of the boys and girls.

He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Shirley Fitzpatrick; children, Monica (Adan) Gonzalez, Jamey (Megan) Fitzpatrick, Manda (Burt) Toney; 13 grandchildren; and several siblings.

A Celebration of Life service celebrating Sonny’s life will be held on Saturday, June 16th, 2018 at 2:00P.M. EDT at the Calvary Family Worship Center in Valley.  Pastor LaVerne Cotney and the Reverend Andy Nixon will be the celebrants.  His family will be receiving friends at the church on Saturday from 1:00P.M. EDT until 2:00P.M. EDT.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made in Sonny’s memory to the Calvary Family Worship Center, 1701 41st Street, Valley, Alabama 36854.
