Case Hoiness

Case Robert Hoiness was born January 7, 1999 in Fort Hood, Texas to Bonnie and Sev Hoiness.  Case was the oldest of three boys.  He was a beautiful baby who cried, nonstop, for 6 months.  They said he had colic, but I think he was just ticked off about being pulled out 2 weeks early.  Case became a curious and inquisitive toddler, who would pick up anything he found outside to examine it.  He would lick ladybugs and hold earthworms, just to get a better idea of what they were about.  Case was an adventurous child who enjoyed learning.  He began attending elementary school in Poulsbo, Washington.  When his family moved to Beulah, Alabama in 4th grade, Case’s sense of adventure continued to grow. He loved to go walking in the woods for hours.  It was calming for him, he loved nature. Case attended Beulah Elementary School from 4th-6th grade, followed by Springwood School where he graduated in May 2017.  Case was an active participant in Lanett First Baptist Church Youth Group all the way through high school. He loved to fish, kayak, ride dirt roads, work on his truck, shoot guns, and start fires.  He could often be found under his truck, or near a campfire in his chair, or hanging in his hammock.  Case loved God, his country, his family and friends, and his dogs. 

After graduating from Springwood School, Case began working at Ryder Trucks as a Mechanic. He joined the U.S. Army Reserves and attended Basic Training and AIT earlier this year. Case fell in love with the U.S. Army and serving his country. He proudly served as a Wheeled Vehicle Mechanic.  After returning home from training, Case decided he was ready for college.  He was recently accepted into UAB’s PreMed program this fall, and planned to join the Army ROTC program at UAB.

Case Robert was only on this Earth for 19 years, but his impact will be felt for many more.  He was kind, helpful, sweet, and funny. We’ll miss hearing his boots thumping when he comes in the house. I am so thankful to have had my angel here for 19 years.

Case passed on Wednesday, December 12, 2018 at Piedmont Columbus Regional in Columbus, Georgia. He leaves behind to treasure his memory his mother, Bonnie Dorough Riley and step-father, Glenn Riley, father, Sev Hoiness and step-mother, Justine Hoiness, brothers, Cole Hoiness, Caden Hoiness, and Bryant Riley, sisters, Tori Riley and Aubrey Jaacks, grandparents, Dan and Bev Dorough, Ann Brown, Donna Hoiness, Ron Hoiness, Lillian Milligan, and Vince and Julie Jaacks, his loving girlfriend, Carson Leva, and many other family members.

Visitation will be Sunday, December 16th at 1:30 p.m. EST at Lanett First Baptist Church in Lanett, AL, with the Funeral Service to follow at 3:00 p.m. EST with Rev. Ronnie Jordan and Student Ministry Director Andrew Oswalt officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorial contributions be made to the Wounded Warriors Project.
